Black is printing with color cartridge

When I print docs from all applications, the printer is creating a not true black color using the red, blue and yellow inks combined which looks more washed out than when my printer (HP deskjet 820 Cse) used to print in true black when hooked up to my old computer. What settings do I need to change to make the black portions of my documents print in true black without having to change the print setting to black & white?

That is how is usually works.... ! If you wish to just use the black
cartridge, try selecting 'grayscale' on the print properties.
