We are using a Black Ice Fax Printer Driver to create TIFF Images of our
AutoCAD drawings for archive purposes. Some of our users have started
encountering a problem with the Black Ice Printer driver. At times it will
not create the TIF file. The error message we get from AutoCAD when it fails
is that the "Job was Canceled" and the "The system cannot find the file
specified". Unfortuantely, it does not tell us which file is missing.
The driver is configured to "Print directory to the printer". It also
configured to print to a TIFFSnapshots directory on the user's C drive. The
driver uses its own port (BIFAX) and print processor (blproces) that prints
using a RAW data type.
The problem is random in nature. Sometimes we can reinstall the printer
and it works for a period of time before the problem occurs again. Other
times reinstalling the printer does not work. Sometimes the user can reboot
their PCs and the problem will disappear for a while. Sometimes it does not
matter how many times they reboot their PCs the driver will not create the
file. We have tried printing files to the driver using other programs with
mixed results. Sometimes it works. Other times it doesn't.
Do you have any suggestions on how to resolve this situation? I have tried
everything I can think of.
